Zoë Ligon is a Detroit based sex educator, artist and writer. There’s essentially no topic she won’t tackle when it comes to sex, pleasure and sex education. Her newly published book Carnal Knowledge covers 52 different topics within the world of sexuality, each accompanied by Elizabeth Renstrom’s beautiful photography.

I have been following Zoë since first encountering her work at a 2016 solo exhibit in Greenpoint. She is frank, open, honest and extremely inviting when it comes to discussing our sexual lives. Her work has helped to unlock a new level of comfortability for me when it comes to my own sex life. She sort of gives you permission to expect pleasure–to know that there is nothing wrong with you no matter how you look or what you’re into, and that you deserve to have your needs met.

Carnal Knowledge demystifies yet honors the human sexual experience. I chatted with Zoë about clits, vulvas, cumming and decolonizing sex. The original plan was to write an article. But after listening to Zoë speak so passionately about these topics I figured I’d deliver it straight to your ears from her lips.

Excuse the audio quality in parts and my not-yet-polished podcast voice 😉
